Music v2.5 is live. ElevenLabs said on its blog on 16 Sep 2026 that Music v2.5 is available inside ElevenMusic, in ElevenCreative and via the ElevenLabs API, and that it delivers improved long‑form structure and realism.

ElevenLabs also added a download restriction: tracks "built on another artist's song" cannot be downloaded (ElevenLabs blog, 16 Sep 2026). ElevenLabs clarified that its multi‑year strategic agreement with Universal Music Group is a separate collaboration: "this deal is separate from Music 2.5." (ElevenLabs blog, 16 Sep 2026).

Universal Music Group said in its press release on 10 Sep 2026 that the UMG agreement will begin with a new licensed AI music creation platform focused on remixes, mashups, new track interpretations and personalised vocal experiences (UMG press release, 10 Sep 2026).

ElevenMusic originally launched on 5 Aug 2025 with licensing announcements from ElevenLabs, Kobalt and Merlin; the primary launch posts from ElevenLabs (5 Aug 2025), Kobalt (5 Aug 2025) and Merlin (5 Aug 2025) describe commitments to royalty "parity" but do not publish numerical royalty rates (ElevenLabs blog, 5 Aug 2025; Kobalt statement, 5 Aug 2025; Merlin statement, 5 Aug 2025).
