A joint UMG–ElevenLabs press release dated 10 September 2026 (checked 10 Sep 2026) announced a multi‑year partnership to build an AI music platform and related artist products.
ElevenLabs said in a February company announcement that a $500m Series D valued the firm at $11bn (company announcement, February 2026; checked 10 Sep 2026). ElevenLabs said in a May company statement that it had crossed $500m in annual recurring revenue (company statement, May 2026; checked 10 Sep 2026).

What freelancers and small companies must insist on
- Signed licence or work‑for‑hire agreement before any use (clear grant, territory, term, and permitted uses).
- Written commercial terms: fee or royalty rate, payment schedule, invoicing and audit rights.
- Explicit data and model‑use clauses: whether recordings, stems, or biometric voiceprints may be used to train models.
- Approval rights for voice likeness, sample clearance, credits and moral‑rights protections.
- Termination, indemnity and liability caps in writing; no oral guarantees.
Do not accept email summaries as final terms: require a fully executed licence and a technical statement of work (SOW) before delivering assets.
